that doesn't sound like a train that's a car
i think someone out there knows where we are
behind a bush bend the branches apart
see a black and white vehicle approach from afar
and that's our cue
run like it's all you know how to do
only eighteen and it's gonna end soon
stalemate til late nightfall that’s great flashlight
fires a beam it pierces past us
losing energy go faster but it
it drains away
a dreary holiday nobody’s out today
a chance to finally pay my respects to this place
there goes another train their faces warp through the dust kicked up
it hasn't rained in a while
twenty four and i don't think i've changed
but over here it's barely recognizable
the way the bog has dried
the trees are shriveled up inside
the creek alive but just a trickle
running to its painful slow demise
dip my hand in one last time and it
grow lamp working overtime above the two
succulents in the corner being subject to
starvation diet only light no liquid food
running on the timer echoing around this room
bottle on the desk is mine it's not meant for you
twenty six years in the name of solitude
they'll be fine after all they're from the desert too
hardly any trace of withered color left in view it
four lightbulbs cast shadows
directionless arrows
